Centre sanctions Rs 2431.73 lakh for urban infrastructure
Itanagar, Jan 8 (UNI) The Union Urban Development Ministry has sanctioned Rs 2431.73 to Arunachal Pradesh for urban infrastructure development at Yupia, the district headquarters of Papum Pare under model district headquarter project.
Official sources said here today that the project, being implemented by National Building Construction Limited (NBCL), started in December 2005 and is expected to be complete by March 31 this year.
The progress of the civil works of all the blocks are nearly in completion stage except the case of circuit house building, which is expected to be complete by March, sources disclosed adding that bulk power and water supply to the project have to be provided by the state government. Citing the reason for delay in the progress of work, sources informed that it was because of a stay order by the Gauhati High Court for the construction of circuit house building for a period of six months. So far Rs 2292.98 lakh had been spent for this project by the NBCC, sources added.
Referring to the inordinate delay in completion of another housing complex project at Jully near here, sources stated that it was due to non-allotment of land free from all encroachments by the state government to NBCL besides hindrances created by the locals.
The project sanctioned during September 2002 with an estimated Rs 1421.56 lakh was supposed to be completed in three years, sources informed and added that the state government was pursuing with NBCL and Centre to complete the project in time.
