Sugar prices up on heavy demand from retailers
Navi Mumbai, Jan 7 (UNI) Wholesale spot sugar prices went up today owing to heavy demand from retailers, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.
Prices of sugar in small and medium grades rose by Rs 21 and Rs 6 per quintal respectively, amid reduced stock supply.
Sugar prices in ex-mill small and medium grade inched up by Rs 25 and Rs 5 per quintal respectively on better buying support.
Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,371/1,426, Medium grade: Rs 1,426/1,525.
Ex-mill Small grade: Rs 1,360/1,415 and Medium grade: Rs 1,420/1,510.
