Pondy inks pact with Centre on funds for JNNURM
Puducherry,Jan 7(UNI)The Union Government and the Puducherry Administration signed an agreement on December 31 last year at New Delhi to enable fund allocation for the union territory under the JNNURM Scheme.
Puducherry Housing Secretary A C Verma and Union Urban Development Joint Secretary M M Kutty signed the agreement under which Puducherry would get funds.
This was disclosed at the 13th council meeting of the Ozhukarai Municiplaity here today.
The meeting witnessed noisy scenes for a few minutes when CPI Councillor from Brindavan demanded the removal of the Ozhukarai Municipality Commissioner which was objected to by several other Councillors. Chairman N S J Jayabal intervened and pacified the members.The meeting later adopted 79 resolutions.
