Haryana to introduce medical mobile units
Chandigarh, Jan 7 (UNI) Medical mobile units, equipped with specialists and various kinds of medical equipment, would be pressed into service in all districts of Haryana so as to provide health services to the people at their doorsteps.
These mobile units would be like operation theaters on wheels as the doctors would be able to conduct operations in these mobile units, Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi said today.
She said the process to recruit 200 specialist doctors would commence soon so as to fill up their vacancies.
Besides, all health centres in the state would also have the facility of ambulance, especially for pregnant women in rural areas to bring them to health centres for delivery. More than 500 delivery huts had been set up to provide the facility of delivery in a clean atmosphere.
She said by laying focus on institutional deliveries, the infant mortality rate had reduced from 61 per 1000 live births in 1999 to 42. Similarly, maternal mortality rate had also reduced from 302 to 162.
She said that with a view to effectively implemening National Rural Health Mission, 10,784 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) have been recruited.
