GPS gadgets seized from fishermen, three arrested
Ramanathapuram, Jan 7 (UNI) Police seized 35 pieces of Global Positioning System (GPS) gadgets from the house of a fisherman at Nakatchi, a coastal village and arrested three fishermen in this connection here today.
Police said acting a tip-off, a special police team rushed to the spot and effected the seizure.
The arrested were identified as Kalidoss, Deiva Kannan and Raju.
During the interrogation, the fishermen said they netted the GPS gadgets while fishing at mid-sea recently and were planning to sell them. The gadgets were made in Taiwan and in dilapidated condition, they added.
Police, however, suspect that the fishermen wanted to smuggle the GPS devices to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Investigation was, underway, police added.
