Ganga Expressway project would affect river Ganga's existence
Varanasi, Jan 7 (UNI) Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh has warned that the Noida-Ballia Ganga Expressway Project would mar the existence of river Ganga.
''This 1,000 km long highway project from Noida to Ballia would play a major role in the destruction of nature, Indian culture and traditions,'' Mr Singh said in a seminar on at Sampoornand Sanskrit University here last evening.
''The project would affect the existence of river Ganga, which was polluting day-by-day,'' he said.
''Most of the rivers in India were already facing crisis of their existence...many of them have dried up and become highly polluted,'' Mr Singh maintained.
Terming the project 'anti-farmer,' Mr singh said it would only benefit few capitalists.
