Etihad Airways appoints Neerja Bhatia as Country Manager
Mumbai, Jan 7 (UNI) Abu Dhabi-based national carrier, Etihad Airways has appointed Neerja Bhatia as its new Country Manager for India.
Prior to her present assignment, Ms Bhatia was the Airline's Acting Manager for India.
Ms Bhatia had joined the Airlines as Sales Manager (Western India) in November 2004, and was later made the Manager (Western and Southern India), a release stated today.
She was instrumental in the launch of Etihad Airways' flights to Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
Ms Bhatia's appointment is being seen as a step towards the Airline's plans to expand its network in India.
Etihad Airways plans to connect Abu Dhabi with many Indian cities like Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Kolkata. The Airline is awaiting the Government's approval in this regard.
Etihad currently operates 28 flights a week from the UAE to India with daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and Kochi (Cochin).
