Dhumal seeks funds for Railway expansion in HP
Shimla, Jan 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today urged the Centre to make adequate funds available for the expansion of Railway network in the state.
Mr Dhumal, in a formal meeting with Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, apprised him the need of two Shatabadi trains to be introduced in the next railway budget between Delhi and Pathankot and New Delhi to Una town to facilitate the residents of Kangra and Chamba districts.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to speed up the work of Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri railway line and asked for speeding up the construction work of Nangal -Talwara railway line, which is yet to be completed due to financial constraints. Since 1978, only 35 km track had been completed.
Mr Dhumal further added that the sum of Rs 200 crore was required for the railway line to be completed within time.
Claiming the Chandigrh_ Baddi broad gauge railway line more progressive and beneficial to the state, he said the work should be taken on to priority basis to get it completed within marked time.
