Central team to assess rain damage in Trichy
Tiruchirapalli, Jan 7 (UNI) A Central team will visit the district this week to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains.
Talking to newspersons here today, District Collector Asish Vachani said the team was expected to visit 15 flood-affected areas in the district. Besides, the district administration would submit a report to the team on the damage caused and the fund required for undertaking relief works.
He said the Tamil Nadu Government had already released Rs six crore for taking up relief works as against the district administration's request for Rs 100 crore interim emergency fund.
To a question, Mr Vachani said the administration had handed over 135 acres to the Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation for establishing an IT park, near here, and the Corporation had sought another 125 acres for which the land acquisition process was on.
