Bandh in Karnataka town evokes strong response
Mandya, Karnataka, Jan 7 (UNI) A bandh call given by the Bajrang Dal and RSS at Melkote in protest against the police's ''inaction'', which led to a burglary at Yoganarasimha Swamy temple recently, evoked strong response today.
Normal life came to a standstill with all shops and educational institutions remaining closed. Buses and other vehicles remained off the road.
Villagers of Kadalagere, Kadenhalli, Ullagatti and surrounding areas took out a procession in the town.
Meanwhile, the Bajrang Dal and RSS had written to Governor Rameshwar Thakur and officials, demanding a probe into the incident in which cash amounting to lakhs of rupees and jewellery were stolen.
They also demanded adequate security to the temple.
