Sonia discharged from hospital
New Delhi, Jan 6: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has recovered from her illness and was discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here early today, six days after she got admitted following complaints of asthma and chest pain.
Issuing Ms Gandhi's health bulletin, Dr B K Rao, Chairman, Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said the health condition of the UPA Chairperson was stable. However, she has been advised to continue rest, he added. The 61-year-old Congress president was diagnosed of chest infection.
Ms Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on New Year day after she complained of asthma and chest pain. The UPA Chairperson's continued hospitalisation had given rise to speculation over her health condition.
A section of media had even reported that the Congress president was suffering from pneumonitis, an inflammation of the lung tissue. However, the hospital authorities denied the report, maintaining that she was suffering from chest infection and needed continued rest.
Hundreds of thousands of Congress workers and supporters across the country had been offering prayers every day for her speedy recovery.
