Miscreants raid treasury, decamp with Rs 2.9 lakh

Bahraich, Jan 6 (UNI) Armed miscreants raided the district treasury in Hardi area and decamped with Rs 2.9 lakh in cash.

According to police, the desperadoes struck around 0300 hrs yesterday and locked the home guard and watch man on duty after wounding them.

Later, they fled with the cash.

Following the incident, senior police and district officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

At the time of the incident, the five PAC jawans were reportedly sleeping, sources added.

A case had been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the culprits.
