Kidnapped school girl's decomposed body found

Thane, Jan 6 (UNI) Highly decomposed body of a school girl, who was kidnapped 18 days ago, was recovered by the police here.

According to police, on December 18, two sisters - Neelam Gupta (9) and Priya (7) - were returning home from school at Shanti Nagar, Bhiwandi when two unidentified persons kidnapped them and took them to Ganeshpuri. Somehow, Priya managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers. She immediately informed about the incident to her parents, who lodged a complaint with the Shanti Nagar police.

As the investigations took too long and Neelam could not be traced, the case was handed over to the local crime branch.

Meanwhile, Ganeshpuri police found a body at Khoproli yesterday. Based on the description of Neelam, the police and Neelam's parents confirmed that it was her body.

The body has been sent to J J Hospital in Mumbai for post-mortem, police said and added that further investigations were on.
