Congress leaders from Telangana region to meet Sonia
Hyderabad, Jan 6 (UNI) Congress leaders from Telangana region today decided to pressurise the party high command to take an early decision on the issue of separate Telangana in view of the present political situation in the State.
Talking to newspersons, after a party meeting here, Congress leader Palvai Govardhana Reddy said a delegation would meet AICC President Sonia Gandhi and explain to her about the present position on Telangana. The delegation would also discuss various factors and the opinion of other parties in the State on the issue, he added.
Mr Reddy said all parties except Communist Party of India were in favour of separate Telangana. The Congress would face problems in Telangana region, if the high command failed to take a decision soon, he added.
He said the meeting also decided not to criticise Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Telangana issue. Dr Reddy had earlier announced that he would abide by the decision of the high command, he added.
Congress leaders from Telangana region, V Hanumantha Rao, Sarve Satyanarayana and APSRTC Chairman and MLA M Satyanarayana Rao, were among others, present on the occasion.
