Oldest Chinar in the world is a pride of JK


Jammu& Kashmir, 30 Dec, 2007 : The tourism department in Indian Jammu&Kashmir is gearing up to woo tourists to the world's oldest and biggest Chinar tree at Chattergam in Chadoora Tehsil, located 20 kilometers from Srinagar city.

The tree planted in 1374 AD by a Sufi Saint Sayed Abul Qasim Shah Hamadani has been in existence for the last 633 years and is an inherent part of Kashmir's rich heritage.
