'Re-employment will cause frustration'

Jammu, Jan 5: Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) has strongly opposed the policy decision announced by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to grant extension in service or re-employment to mechanical engineers.

The association today appealed the ministers concerned PHE, irrigation and flood control and roads and buildings departments, not to grant extension in service or re-employment to any mechanical engineer at any level as per the policy decision.

''Extension in service or re-employment will block and jeopardize career of hundreds of engineers in service at down levels causing stagnation and frustration,'' the JKMEGA said.

The state's mechanical engineering department, has a large number of ''talented and experienced'' engineers in service who are well conversant with their job, ''hence, there is no need of extension or re-employment of superannuating engineers,'' the association asserted. As a solution to the issue, the association said, ''Services of a retiring engineer, if required, can be taken by engaging him as a consultant for that particular work.''
