Man kills children, commits suicide in TN

Madurai, Jan 5: A 32-year-old man ended his life allegedly by consuming poison, after killing his two children at Meenakshi Thoppu area under Karimedu police limits, here today.

Police said Rathina Pandiyan and his family went to Tuticorin yesterday and while returning, he dropped his wife at her mother's house last night. After reaching home, he mixed poison in cool drinks and administered it to his children Gopi Krishnan (10) and Ramakrishnan (8) before consuming it.

Neighbours, who found the bodies in the morning, informed the police. Police recovered a suicide note from the spot, which revealed that Rathina Pandiyan had suspected his wife's fidelity, which led to frequent quarrels between the couple.

The bodies were shifted to the Government Rajaji Hospital here for a post-mortem, police added.
