Doda district to get separate Tourism Development Authority

Doda, Jan 5 (UNI) A separate Tourism Development Authority will be set-up for Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir to exploit its rich scenic spots for tourism promotion.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, while making this announcement at a public meeting here yesterday, said tourism promotion was important for his government, and accordingly, it had received full attention.

As many as 16 Tourism Development Authorities were set-up in different areas of the state during the past five years of the coalition government, taking the total number to 19, the Chief Minister said.

The tourism development authority for Doda would take the number to 20, he asserted.

The areas like Lal Draman and Dal Draman in Doda district were extremely beautiful and have tremendous tourism potential, Mr Azad noted.

By setting up a separate development authority, he said, these areas would be further developed to attract tourists from state and outside in large numbers.

As a first measure for setting-up of a Tourism Development Authority in Doda, the Chief Minister said the government would concentrate on constructing motorable road up to Lal Draman and Dal Draman. Subsequently, tourist huts and other facilities would be raised there, he added.
