DHBVN extends surcharge waiver scheme up to Jan 31
Chandigarh, Jan 5 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to give one more chance to the defaulting consumers of all categories in urban areas, including the connections of government offices, municipalities, commercial institutes and industries to avail the benefit of surcharge waiver scheme by extending the scheme up to January 31.
The benefit of the scheme would be available to those non payers who had been defaulters on March 31, 2007 and continued as such.
The scheme would be available to both connected and disconnected consumers.
A DHBVN spokesman said here today that cent per cent surcharge would be waived off on liquidation of outstanding principal amount in lump-sum or six equal monthly installments and the non payer is required to ensure that there is no default in payment of current bills.
The facility of reconnection would also be made available as per Nigam's instructions. The scheme would not be available to the consumers whose court cases are pending. The benefit of the scheme shall be provided in case of withdrawal of pending court cases before January 31 but it will not be applicable to court cases related to theft of electricity.
He said that another scheme i.e. the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (V.D.S.) for declaration of unauthorised extension of load would also remain operational up to January 31.
