Mumbai, Jan 5 (UNI) ''Majhi Aayee'' (My Mother), an emotional story of a mother-daughter relationship, will mark Telegu movie doyen D Rama Naidu's debut in Marathi cinema.
The movie with an ensemble cast of Subodh Bhave, Devika Daftardar, Smita Jaykar, Ramesh Bhatkar, Nagesh Bhosale will release on January 11.
Speaking to reporters here yesterday, Mr Naidu said that the film is a remake of his Telugu hit film ''Preminchu''.
The screenplay and dialogues have been written by noted Marathi film journalist Srikant Bojewar.
Mr Naidu said that he chose to make a Marathi movie because Maharashtrians can identify with the story and the emotions attached to it.
''This is part of my endeavour to produce films in all the regional languages. I have produced movies in Bengali, Oriya, Kannada and now Marathi. I chose the successful Telugu films that I have made for the remakes in different languages. I will also produce a movie in Bhojpuri. My next Hindi venture will be directed by Satish Kaushik,'' Mr Naidu said, while talking about his future plans.
He added that he will release ''Majhi Aayee'' with 11 prints in Pune, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Latur, Parbhani, Akola, Amravati and Nagpur.
Mr Naidu said the film's USP is the unique manner in which a mother-daughter relationship has been treated.
The film is directed by Kanchan Nayak, veteran lyricist Jagdish Khebudkar has penned the lyrics and the music has been composed by Achyut Thakur.
