CPI not to support third front in TN: Pandiyan
Puducherry, Jan 5 (UNI) The Communist Party of India will not support the third front in Tamil Nadu, party Tamil Nadu State Secretary D Pandiyan said.
Inaugurating party's 19th State conference here last night, he said a front which would protect the working class and poor and oppose communalism and imperialism itself would be a perfect third front.
The ''anti-working class'' policies of the Congres could not be tolerated for long, he cautioned.
He said actors could take a plunge into politics, but it should not be with the intention to earn more money.
He alleged that the Tamil Nadu Government was acquiring land for setting up industrial units and there was no land for the poor peasants to construct houses.
The assurance made by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi - two acres of land to the poor - was yet to be fullfilled, he said, adding that since 30 lakh people in Tamil Nadu were not having own houses and living like refugees, the Government should come forward to provide at least three cents of land in rural areas, so that they could construct their houses.
