Antique idols burgled in Uttar Pradesh

Sultanpur, Jan 5: Masked burglars decamped with several antique idols, estimated at Rs one crore in the international market, from a century-old temple in Kotwali area here.

The burglary occurred at Shahganj locality late last night, where a band of idol thieves broke into an ancient temple and flew the coop with precious 'ashtadhatu' idols of Lord Ram, Laxman, Sita, Krishna and Balram.

The robbery was unearthed this morning, when the temple priest went for the 'Mangla Arti'. A manhunt had been launched.
