Raid on official's house yields rich haul of cash, documents
Kancheepuram, Jan 4 (UNI) A raid on the residence of a Deputy Tashildhar by the Vigilance Police led to a rich haul of Rs 48 lakh in cash, fixed deposit worth Rs 33.5 lakh, besides incriminating documents relating to land and house worth Rs one crore.
Police said the raid at the official's residence, located at NGGO Nagar in Chenglapattu yesterday, followed a complaint he had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The day-long raid yielded the rich haul of cash, deposits and land documents.
However, the Deputy Tashildhar, identified as Ragunathan, had gone underground after he learnt about the raid, police said.
When contacted by the UNI, District Collector Santhosh K Misra said action (like suspension) would be taken against the official after the receipt of a detailed report from the Vigilance Department.
