Naxals kill police constable in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Jan 4 (UNI) A policeman died and another was injured when they were allegedly attacked by suspected Naxalites in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
A group of armed Naxalites attacked the two policemen, identified as constables Santosh Maraskolhe and Dadaji Khapre, with axes in Malewada in Kurkheda tehsil of the district last evening, the police said today.
The two injured policemen were admitted to hospital in Gadchiroli, where Khapre succumbed to his wounds late night, according to a police release here.
Injured Maraskolhe has been shifted to Nagpur for treatment, the release said.
The mortal remains of constable Khapre have been sent to his native place, after paying homage at the police headquarters in Gadchiroli, it added.
