India-Japan for enhancing bilateral collaboration in infra sector

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) India and Japan here today called for increasing bilateral collaboration in infrastructure sector, including the dedicated freight corridor project and Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor project.

Described as mother of all infrastructure projects in India, the 90-100 billion dollar Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor is slated for development along the 1483-km-long dedicated freight corridor between the two primary cities of the country.

Expressing satisfaction over the steadily progressing relations between the two countries, Finance Minister P Chidambaram during a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fukushiro Nukaga expressed the hope their partnership would further deepen.

The visits of the Indian Prime Minister to Japan in 2006 and of the Japanese Prime Minister to India in 2007 have further strengthened the India-Japan global partnership.

They also discussed the need to increase collaboration in the financial sector, a Finance Ministry statement said.
