Corporate social responsibility is bhakti: Bhargava

Mumbai, Jan 4 (UNI) ''Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) translates into 'bhakti (devotion)' and contributes to the economy as a whole,'' according to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Maharashtra State Council Vice Chairman and Cummins Generator Technologies MD Pradeep Bhargava.

He was speaking at a seminar on ''Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility'' here today.

The seminar was jointly organized by CII, Columbia Business School, Business School Alumni Club of India and FedEx.

The seminar dwelled on the relationship between corporate governance and CSR activities, the role of the media and academics in strengthening the social fabric of the country and India's need for CSR, in the rise of company shares and the economy as a whole.
