Central schemes awareness campaign to begin in South Goa
Panaji, Jan 4 (UNI) A five-day programme to raise awareness about various Central Government schemes will begin on January 7 in South Goa for which Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will flag off a rally in Margao city.
Christened as ''Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (PIC)'', the programme envisages officers of the Press Information Bureau and the Field Publicity wing of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry organising meetings and mass contact programmes through various modes to popularise the central schemes.
The schemes pertain to Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Food Processing, Agriculture / Horticulture / Floriculture under the Directorate of Agriculture, self-help groups under the District Rural Development Agency besides Tourism and Employment Avenues and developmental schemes of various nationalised banks.
The artists of the Song and Drama Divisions from Delhi, Maharashtra and Goa would also participate in the campaign to make it entertaining and attractive.
The campaigners would highlight the success story of Mr Chinmay Tanshikar - a young progressive farmer of Netravali, Sanguem, who provided employment to about 25 unemployed youths as he availed the benefits of the central schemes.
The campaign, second in South Goa, was being organised under the aegis of the Press Information Bureau here. Beginning in Margao, the campaign will be held at Sanguem, Quepem, Canacona and Mormugao.
