UPA responsible for agrarian crisis: Rajnath
Lingsugur, Karnataka, Jan 3 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today alleged that the UPA Government was responsible for the agrarian crisis and suicide of 15,000 farmers in the country.
Addressing a farmers convention here, he alleged, ''the Congress has failed on all fronts and they are the root cause of all problems in the country. Prices of essential commodities, including the cooking gas had shot up during the UPA rule.'' On the affidavit filed by the Centre on Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project (SSCP), he said the Congress had hurt the sentiments of the Hindus by filing an affidavit stating that ''Lord Ram was a fictitious character.'' Claiming that the BJP would 'storm' to power at the Centre and in Karnataka, Mr Singh said if the party was voted to power, it would provide loans to the farmers at four per cent interest.
Former Union Minister and in charge of Karnataka affairs Yashwant Sinha said the BJP stood for national development and welfare of the people.
''We introduced Kisan Credit Cards, Gram Sadak Yojana and Bima Yojana schemes to help the farmers,'' he said.
Mr Sinha said the party would go it alone in the ensuing Assembly polls in the state.
