TPCC delegation meets ECI for fair election

Agartala, Jan 3: A three-member delegation of Tripura Congress Committee, led by Opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath today met Election Commissioner of India (ECI) and urged for a free and fair election in the coming assembly election.

Mr Nath told to the sources over the phone from Delhi that the delegation had requested ECI to guarantee the reflection of the true mandate of the people of Tripura during the poll while demanding to meticulously review the law and order situation before announcing the election date.

He, however, stated that a group of senior leaders of the Congress Committee met their high command yesterday and appraised the central leaderships of the situation in Tripura as well as discussed certain election related matters.

''It has been confirmed that the Tripura Congress Committee leaders will put up a united fight to defeat the Left Front in Tripura and the high command has assured us to extend all support to win the elections,'' Mr Nath said and added that AICC would finalise the nomination of the party soon.
