Six-year-old rape victim traced in AP

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), Jan 3: A six-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a youth at Chirala in Prakasam district on New Year's day and missing since then, was traced here.

After reaching here by Seshadri Express and loitering on the platform, the girl was spotted yesterday by the Railway Protection Force personnel, who reported the matter to the police and the Child Line of the national child labour project.

Child Line official G Satyanarayana identified the girl based on her photograph published in a newspaper.

The girl told the authorities that she fell unconscious after the sexual assault by one Cheekati Prasanna Kumar (25), who believing her to be dead dumped her in a toilet of the Kakinada-bound Seshadri Express.

The girl was sent to the Government General Hospital here for medical examination and kept under the custody of Child Line authorities. Prakasam district Superintendent of Police Naveen Chand was deputing a special team to take her to Chirala.
