One more death reported in Banskantha district
Palanpur Jan 3 (UNI) With the recovery of one more body in the wee hours today, the death toll due to chilly breeze rose to three in Banaskantha District.
Police sources said the body of one Ramdeo Warsanji Sadhu (65) was recovered from the Deesa Railway platform in the wee hours.
Chilly winds blowing with high velocity has thrown the normal life out of gear in North Gujarat. Soon after the sunset, the roads wear a deserted look and people can be seen squatting around the fire.
With cold breeze continuing for the third consecutive day, the normal life has been affected. Forecast of further decline in the temperature has restricted parents from sending their wards to schools.
According to Director of Research Sardar Patel Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU) S B S Tikka, the present climate is quite suitable for the Cumin, wheat, mustard, potato and all other Rabi crops. He said the rabi crop needs good winter atmosphere and even if the mercury slumps a few more points it would be beneficial for the crop.
Weatherman at Deesa observatory said it had recorded 8.5 degree Celsius this morning but it is the severe cold breeze that is causing the people to shiver.
