One arrested with snake poison in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 3: The forest vigilance wing arrested a person and recovered 500 ml of snake poison worth Rs 50 lakh from him in a hotel in the city today.

The arrested person, identified as Mohammed Shafi (34) was hailing from Kannur.Acting on a tip off, the forest intelligence wing approached the person as a customer and fixed the deal for Rs 20 lakh. As per the direction they arrived in the hotel and he was arrested.

However, his accompany, Mani, said to be the gang leader, escaped. On interrogation, Mr Shafi admitted that he regularly smuggled poison to various foreign countries for making drugs, the sources said. He would be produced before the court tomorrow.

Forest vigilance department had arrested three persons and seized 22 gm of crystal type snake poison, valued at Rs 6.5 lakh in the international market, from Kannur yesterday.
