Mayawati to ministers: ensure work division; clear files in time

Lucknow, Jan 3 (UNI) In a stern direction to her ministers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has asked them to ensure that work is divided among the officials and files are cleared within the set timeframe.

In a letter to all ministers of the state on the New Year, the Chief Minister asked them to issue permanent directions on division of work. She stressed that they should decide on the matters which would be decided by them and the matters which should be dealt with by their principal secretaries or secretaries or other subordinate staff.

''There are provisions which state that the file should not be pending at any level for more than four working days,'' the letter said.

A complaint was filed before the Lok Ayukt against former minister Avadesh Prasad a few months ago. In its reply, the government had mentioned about UP work (allotment) rules, 1975. The letter by Ms Mayawati was issued in light of the complaint.
