Gurgaon revisited: student guns down junior in MP school

Satna, MP, Jan 3 (UNI) In a grim reminder of the Gurgaon incident, a tenth-standard student used a crude weapon to gun down a class eight student today, following a festering dispute, on a government higher secondary school premises at this district's Churwari village about 45 km from here, police said.

After the last bell at 1300 hrs, Rahul Singh (16) -- who hails from an influential family -- pulled out a gun concealed in his shorts and opened fire on a tribal student Dharmu Kol (12) who died on the spot. Preliminary reports gave the victim's surname as 'Kaul'. Ten days back, the boys got engaged in a scuffle at school.

Singh was arrested and has confessed to the murder. Police is attempting to ascertain who supplied the weapon to the accused.

The murder came on the heels of a similar incident in a reputed school of Gurgaon of Haryana where a 14-year-old student was shot by his classmate over a minor dispute between the two.
