Wounded AGP MLA returns from New Delhi
Tezpur, Jan 2 (UNI) Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) legislator Padma Hazarika, who was severely wounded in an attack on December 13, returned here today from New Delhi.
A popular leader representing Sootea constituency in the state Assembly, Hazarika was welcomed by hundreds of people who lined on both sides of the road to cheer him.
Waving to the crowds, Mr Hazarika thanked all for their prayers and said he would continue to work for the people.
The AGP MLA was shot at by unidentified assailants near Hazarimahal centre in Sootea late on December 13 night when returning from a Panchayat election rally. Four bullets were pumped into his body and he had to undergo treatment in New Delhi.
One Jitu Bhuyan was arrested from near Darrang College in Tezpur last week in connection with the attack.
