Water discharge from Mettur dam increased

Tiruchirapalli, Jan 2 (UNI) The discharge of water from the Stanley reservoir in Mettur across river Cauvery has been stepped up to 15,000 cusecs following demand from the delta region farmers for standing paddy crops.

PWD sources said the level in the dam stood at 106.700 ft this morning, as against its capacity of 120 ft.

The inflow into the reservoir was 1,094 cusecs.
