Nine arrested in rape case in AP village
Sanga Reddy, Jan 2 (UNI) Police today arrested nine people in a gang rape case of a 25-year-old woman, who was in advanced state of pregnancy, on the National Highway at Sankapur village in Medak District of Andhra Pradesh yesterday.
Police said acting on a tip-off, a police party rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. Four auto drivers and their friends had committed the crime.
Ms Suguna and her husband Pocha Goud were waiting for a bus at Sankapur village to proceed to their native place at Chinashankarampet. The gang followed the couple, posed themselves as policemen and snatched money and a mobile phone from them.
They then assaulted Mr Goud and took the woman into the nearby bushes and raped her, before fleeing, police added.
