JPCC welcomes notification of Forest Rights Act

Ranchi, Jan 2 (UNI) Welcoming the Union government's move to notify the rule enforcing the Scheduled Tribes and other traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Dwellers) Act, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee today said the Act would embolden the tribals.

''The Congress has been fighting for the cause for a long time and notification of the Act was a victory for all tribals and dwellers,'' party's spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey here said today.

In the context of Jharkhand the Act would empower tribals and others living in forests areas who were being displaced by the setting up of industries, Mr Dubey added.

The Act was passed in Parliament last year but could not be notified due to certain reasons, he added.
