Delhi police to recruit 5000 more policemen for CW games
New Delhi, Jan 2 (UNI) As part of preparations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Delhi Police plans to carry out recruitment of an additional 5000 personnel to facilitate efficient management of crime and traffic in the city, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadhwal said today.
''An additional 5000 police personnel, including 1000 traffic personnel, 2000 to man PCR vans and 800 security personnel, will be recruited for an efficient management of crime and traffic during the Commonwealth Games,''Mr Dadhwal said at the annual press conference by the Delhi Police.
In addition, the Delhi police will conduct workshops to impart behavioural training to nearly 2500 police personnel with an eye on the Commonwealth Games.
Mr Dadhwal said for efficient management of traffic during the Games, a new traffic management centre would be set up, envisaging covering of major roads by CCTVs/red light speed cameras.
Stating that traffic management during the Commowealth Games envisaged monitoring traffic in Delhi through the Global Positioning system, the Police Commissioner said,''expression of interest from companies conversant of the GPS technology for the monitoring of traffic will soon be invited.''
