CPI(M) leader killed by Maoists in Nadia

Krishnagar, Jan 2 (UNI) CPI(M) leader Ramprasad Mondol was today shot dead by Maoists in Mathurapur under Kotwali police station in Nadia district.

Police said they have not been able to trace the miscreants, but confirmed that they were maoists, since they had left leaflets stating their identity.

The CPI(M) leader, who is also the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan(SSA) Coordinator, was crossing the Kalinga river when four-five miscreants shot at him and killed him on the spot. He sustained bullet wounds on his head, neck and chest, police said.

A combing operation was on to find the miscreants. However, no arrests have been made, yet police informed.
