CM should lead all party delegation to Delhi on SEZs: NGO

Panaji, Jan 2 (UNI) Goan NGO Utt Goenkara today demanded that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat should lead an all party delegation to Delhi to prove his bonafides on the Special Economic Zones, to get all the SEZs scrapped with immediate effect.

The delegation should include leaders of Goa's Movement against SEZs and the SEZ Virodhi Manch, said ''Utt Goenkara'' spokesman Adv Aires Rodrigues.

''Mr Digambar Kamat who has been flying to Delhi so often to save and stabilise his chair should now fly to the capital to Save Goa and Goans whose identity and culture stands threatened if the real estate scam in the name of SEZ's, IT and food parks are not scrapped,'' he said in a statement.

Saying that the SEZ issue is yet another glaring example as to how Goa Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane has done maximum damage to Goa and Goans, Mr Rodrigues has stated that the people of Goa should hold Mr Rane responsible for having attempted to sell Goa in the name of SEZs, IT and Food parks.

Further stating that Mr Rane had proposed the SEZs without even discussing the same within the Cabinet, Mr Rodrigues demanded that Mr Rane should explain to the people of Goa as to how he wrote to the Commerce Minister on December 21, 2006 that SEZs were going to benefit Goa economically and help create huge employment opportunities.
