Builder cheated of Rs 40 lakh, miscreants held
Thane, Jan 1 (UNI) The Naupada police here, with the help of the have arrested five people here, who had allegedly cheated a Thane-based builder to the tune of Rs 40 lakh.
Senior inspector G S Madgulkar told UNI that the builder C S Bhide of the Pratik Builders and Developers had lodged a complaint saying that two leaves from the cheque book, issued by the Pune People's Bank, had been stolen from his office and the miscreants had withdrawn a sum of Rs 40 lakh from his account.
During the course of investigations, the Naupada police were tipped off by a private bank in Bangalore that a person, Bramhananda Reddy, had deposited a cheque for Rs 9 lakh drawn on the Pune People's Bank.
Acting on the tip off, the Naupada police nabbed Reddy with the help of the Bangalore police. Subsequently, on Reddy's interrogation, four more people were arrested and they have been identified as Santosh Gangan, Prashant P, Ajayya, and Prasad.
