Bhau Daji Lad Museum will open for public on Friday

Mumbai, Jan 2 (UNI) With high profile dignitaries including two Presidents and one Prime Minister failing to keep date with the city's Bhau Daji Lad Museum, the renovated heritage treasure house will be inaugurated by Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray on January 4.

The 150-year old museum, which houses a rich collection of art, cultural and literature, was under renovation since 2003. The work was completed in 2005, BMC official sources said.

Initially, the then President A P J Abdul Kalam was supposed to inaugurate the Museum in November 2006, but he could not make it to the city due to certain reasons. Later, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was to cut the ribbon on February 7, 2008, however, he too cancelled his trip at the last movement due to security reasons.

President Pratibha Patil also failed to inaugurate the museum despite giving two dates -- December 20 and 24.
