TN govt to introduce new tourist destinations
Chennai, Jan 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister N Suresh Rajan said the Tourism Department is planning to introduce new tourism destinations soon.
Inaugurating the 34th Tourism and Trade Fair at the Island Grounds here yesterday, he said the Government was planning to tie-up with private participants for promotion of tourism in the state.
The Minister said every year, the state attracted 4.5 crore domestic tourists and 14.5 lakh foreign tourists. Similarly, 79.65 lakh domestic tourists and 4.92 lakh foreign tourists visited Chennai.
The State recorded an annual growth of 22 per cent, he said.
To attract more tourists, he said, the Tourism Department had introduced new packages, which included hop-on and hop-off trips to Mahabalipuram.
