Sub-zero temperature in Punjab on New Year, respite in Kashmir

New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) The New Year was ushered in with sub-zero temperatures in Punjab, while people in the Kashmir valley had some respite from the chill after the minimum temperature was up by three degrees.

The nationwide toll stood at 85 with 69 deaths reported this winter in Uttar Pradesh, six in Gujarat, four each in Bihar and Punjab and two in Himachal Pradesh.
