Sonia's condition stable: PM phone her
New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) The condition of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram hospital late last night here after she developed a slight breathing problem, is stable, a hospital spokesman said today.
Ms Gandhi was admitted to the hospital after she complained of asthma and chest pain, he said. She was diagnosed with chest infection and is undergoing treatment, he added. ''Her condition is now stable.'' When contacted by UNI, the Chairman of the Board of Management of the hospital, Mr B K Rao said he had no idea when Ms Gandhi would be discharged. ''Only the family will say...'' Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh talked to Ms Gandhi by telephone and enquired about her health, sources said.
Besides, Congress workers and supporters offered prayers for her health at various places of worship.
