OPIL's record profit
Kottayam, Jan 1 (UNI) OilPalm India Limited has achieved a record profit of Rs 14.50 crore during the year.
At a news conference here today, Chairman V B Binu and Managing Director Mathew Jacob said the company's had achieved a profit of 14.50 crore during 2006-07 as against Rs 13 crore in 2005-06.
The foundation stone for the kernel oil factory of the company would be laid in February this year,they informed.
Under the Oil Palm Development Programme (OPDP), the company had introduced Oil Palm cultivation in 1,200 hectare.
A project for cultivating oil palm in 1,000 hectare in Malabar was under the consideration of the government, they said emphasising the need for cultivating oil palm to meet the shortage of edible oils in the country.
