Mercury levels keep the state clinging to warm clothes

Kolkata, Jan 01 (UNI) West Bengal welcomed the New Year with chilly weather, with the minimum temperature in the state being 9.8 degrees Celsius.

Alipore Met officials informed that the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 11.7 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal and the maximum was pegged at 24.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

The maximum relative humidity was high throughout the city, with North Bengal Recording station noting it at 98 per cent and Alipore met office recording it at 91 per cent.

Met officials predicted that the minimum temperature will remain within 12 degrees Celsius.
