Jr Engineer held for bribery

Bangalore, Jan 1 (UNI) The Karnataka Lok Ayukta today caught red-handed Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) Soladevanahalli Junior Engineer T Venkatesh while accepting bribe for showing an official favour, here yesterday.

In a release here today, Lok Ayukta said Venkatesh was arrested while accepting Rs 5,000 from M Hanumantharaju of Chikkabanavara for providing an illegal electricity connection for a pump set.

Venkatesh, who visited the spot, had already collected Rs 4,000 and demanded Rs 5,000 more.He was later remanded in judicial custody.

In a similar case, the Lok Ayukta also arrested Revenue Inspector Mohana Thippanna of Dharwad Rural Taluk for demanding and accepting Rs 1,000 to recommend Malliaiah Siddaramaiah Guddadamut application for granting a handicapped pension to his son.
