Honour for social scientist

Hyderabad, Jan 1 (UNI) Noted social scientist and Mekaster Group Chairman Virender M Trehan has been selected for the ''Presidential Gold Medal Award'' by the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA).

According to a release here today, Mr Trehan was the only social scientist selected for the award, which would be formally presented to him by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the 95th Indian Science Congress at Visakhapatnam on January 3.

Mr Trehan had been honoured for his significant contribution to the development of science and technology in the country. He was responsible for bringing in the Digital Switching System in India, an important milestone for Indian Telecom, the release claimed.
